Our Evaluation Services

Lifestyle Medical provides rigorous, independent evaluation of health technology projects, digital health pilots, and telehealth initiatives. Our evaluations are grounded in established frameworks, transparent methodologies, and peer-reviewed evidence standards.

We support healthcare organisations, government bodies, and research teams in understanding whether their health technology interventions are working – and how to improve them.

We evaluate:

  • Telemedicine and remote care platforms
  • Digital health and mobile health applications
  • Wearable health monitoring technology
  • AI-assisted diagnostic tools
  • Point-of-care technology pilots
  • Electronic health record implementations

The RE-AIM Framework

Our evaluations use the RE-AIM framework (Glasgow et al.), one of the most widely used and validated approaches for evaluating health technology implementation.

R – Reach: Who was reached by the intervention? What is the representativeness of participants?
E – Effectiveness: What outcomes did the intervention achieve? Was it clinically significant?
A – Adoption: Which settings and staff adopted the intervention? What were the barriers?
I – Implementation: How consistently was the intervention delivered as intended?
M – Maintenance: Is the intervention sustained over time? What is its long-term impact?

Case Study: Healthy Islands

Independent evaluation of Ireland's first offshore telemedicine pilot.

Project Background

The Healthy Islands project is a Sláintecare-funded telemedicine pilot delivering virtual GP and specialist consultations to three offshore island communities in Connacht: Clare Island, Inishturk, and Inishbofin.

The pilot is coordinated by the University of Galway HIVE Lab (Health Innovation Via Evidence Lab) in partnership with HSE West and Galway University Hospitals. It represents a pioneering effort to address healthcare access inequity in Ireland's island communities, where residents face significant barriers to in-person specialist care.

Lifestyle Medical was appointed as the independent evaluator, conducting a rigorous assessment of the pilot's reach, effectiveness, adoption, implementation, and sustainability using the RE-AIM framework.
